Why hire from us

  • Hire units are cargo-worthy grade, wind & watertight — any problem during the hire is fixed or the unit swapped
  • Flexible terms that match your project, not our paperwork
  • Hire-to-buy: decide to keep it and we'll credit recent hire toward purchase
  • One number for everything: 1300 235 972

Weighing it up? Read our guide: hiring vs buying — the break-even maths.

Grades, plainly: As-is units are sold as seen and are not sold watertight — watertight applies to cargo-worthy and new grades only. Your quote always names the grade, and photos of the actual unit are available on request before delivery.

How container hire works

You tell us the size, the address and roughly how long you need it. We quote the weekly hire rate plus delivery and pickup for your site, so you see the full cost before anything is booked. The container is delivered to the spot you choose and stays there for as long as you need it. When you are finished, call us and we collect it. Longer terms attract sharper weekly rates, and there is no long contract locking you in.

What hire is good for

Renovations and builds. Furniture and belongings stay dry and locked on site instead of in a storage unit across town, and tools and materials are secure overnight on a building site.

Moves and gaps between houses. Sold before you have bought, or building your next place — a 20ft holds a typical three-bedroom household.

Contracts and shutdowns. Crews working on a site for a defined period get a lockable store that disappears when the contract ends, with no asset left on the books.

Seasonal overflow. Extra dry storage for harvest months, stocktake or events.

What hire is not good for

Hire is the wrong choice for anything permanent. Once you would be hiring for more than a year or two, owning usually works out cheaper — and a container you own can be modified, painted, shelved and vented however you like, which a hire unit cannot. Our hire vs buy guide works through the break-even. If you think you might keep it, ask about hire-to-buy: decide to keep the container and we will credit recent hire toward the purchase.

Getting the site ready

The truck needs the same things as any delivery: a clear path about 3.5m wide, room for the tray to tilt, and firm ground for a straight run to the drop spot. Put the container where you can open the doors fully and where it will not be in the builders' way. Hire containers are cargo-worthy grade — inspected, wind and watertight — so set the container on firm, level ground and keep the doors closing squarely on their seals. The full checklist is on our delivery page.

Container hire questions

What's the minimum hire period?

Short-term hire is available — most customers hire for 3–12 months, but talk to us about shorter needs. Longer terms attract better weekly rates.

What happens if the container gets damaged?

Normal wear is expected and covered. Damage beyond fair wear (forklift holes, cutting, modifications) is charged at repair cost — it's rare, and we'll always talk to you first.

Can I buy the container I'm hiring?

Yes — and if you decide within the first few months, we'll credit a portion of your recent hire payments toward the purchase. Ask when you book.

Does hire include delivery?

Delivery and pickup are quoted separately and upfront, based on your location. One clear number when you book — no surprises at the end of the hire.

Do I need to be home when the hire container is delivered?

It helps to be there, or reachable by phone, so the driver can confirm the exact position and which way the doors face. The delivery day is confirmed when you book.

Can I hire a 10ft, 40ft or high cube?

Weekly guide rates are listed for the 20ft; other sizes are call-for-rate, depending on what is available. For longer needs, buying a used 40ft and reselling it later can work out better than hiring.

Can I move a hire container around my site?

Only with a suitable truck or forklift and after checking with us. Dragging a container damages the base and your ground, and a container that is lifted wrongly can be damaged or dropped.
