Made for acreage

Jimboomba, Greenbank and the country down the Mount Lindesay Highway to Beaudesert are some of the most container-friendly blocks in South East Queensland: a few acres, a wide gate, room to swing a truck. Horse owners keep feed, tack and rugs in them. Tradies who run a business from home use one as the tool store so the garage can go back to being a garage. Families with motorbikes, mowers, a camper and a slasher find a 20ft fills up faster than expected, which is why a lot of acreage owners go directly to a 40ft container.

Most of these are purchases. When the container is going to be your shed for the long term, owning is the sensible path, and a used cargo-worthy unit — inspected, sold wind and watertight — is the value pick. As-is containers cost less but are not sold as watertight, so keep them for things that can get wet.

Flagstone and the new estates

The other half of the district is brand-new housing. Around Flagstone and Yarrabilba, builders and owner-builders want short-term site storage on a small block with a narrow frontage. That is a hire job, and sometimes a 10ft job. Estate covenants often restrict what can sit on a lot after handover, so check yours.

Level the pad and watch the river flats

Preparing the pad is the one bit of work that falls to you. It does not need a slab: a level, compacted area with a concrete block or sleeper under each corner casting is enough, and it keeps the floor dry and the doors swinging freely. On sloping blocks, cut the pad in so the container sits level end to end.

Parts of this district lie along the Logan and Albert rivers, which flood. Do not put a container on the flats if you have higher ground. It will keep rain out from above; it will not keep floodwater out, and an empty container can float off its blocks.

For the truck: about 3.5m clear through the gate, nothing low overhead, and firm ground along a straight run-in. The details are on our delivery page. Rules on containers differ between Logan City and Scenic Rim councils and by block size, so a quick call to your council is worthwhile.

Boonah, Rathdowney and the Scenic Rim valleys

West and south of Beaudesert, the Scenic Rim opens into farming valleys: Boonah and the Fassifern, Rathdowney on the road to the border, and Kooralbyn in the hills. This is cattle, dairy, vegetables and lifestyle acreage, often at the end of long gravel roads with creek crossings. Farmers use a used cargo-worthy 20ft or 40ft as the lockable shed, and weekenders use one to keep tools and gear secure while they are away. Tell us about creek crossings, causeways and steep pinches before booking.

Horse country and feed storage

Horse properties are thick on the ground from Greenbank and Munruben down through Cedar Vale and Woodhill. A container beats a tin shed for feed and tack because it keeps out rats and mice and locks properly. Keep feed on pallets off the floor, vent the container so bagged feed does not sweat, and keep the doors closed. Round bales will not fit through a container door, so hay stays under a shed roof.

Logan Village and the Logan River

Logan Village and the blocks along the Logan River below Jimboomba are some of the prettiest acreage in the district, and some of the lowest. Put a container on the high side of the block, not near the river. For access, the Mount Lindesay Highway is straightforward; local roads to the blocks are narrower, and some driveways cross dips that hold water. Our delivery page lists what the truck needs.

Jimboomba container questions

Do I need a concrete slab for a container on acreage?

No. A level, firm pad with concrete blocks, pavers or hardwood sleepers under the four corners is all a container needs. Getting it level matters more than what it sits on, because a twisted container has stiff doors.

Do you deliver to Beaudesert and the Scenic Rim?

Yes. Beaudesert, Cedar Grove, Tamborine village and the surrounding Scenic Rim properties are within our delivery area from Jimboomba. Tell us the address and describe the gate and driveway.

Is a 40ft container too big for a five-acre block?

Rarely. The container itself takes up little room; the delivery needs the space. A sidelifter wants about 30m of working length and firm ground beside the pad. If you have that, a 40ft is the better value per cubic metre.

Do you deliver containers to Boonah and Rathdowney?

Yes. The Scenic Rim valleys are within our Jimboomba delivery area. Tell us about gravel roads, creek crossings and your driveway, and delivery is quoted with the container.

Will a container keep rats out of horse feed?

A cargo-worthy container with sound door seals is about as rodent-resistant as farm storage gets. Keep feed on pallets, vent the container and keep the doors shut.

Is it safe to put a container on a Logan Village block near the river?

Put it on the highest part of the block, up on blocks, well away from the river flats. A container keeps rain out from above but not floodwater, and an empty one can float. If the only flat ground is low, talk to us about a smaller container on a built-up pad.

How long does container delivery to Jimboomba take?

Timing depends on stock and the truck schedule; we confirm it when you book.

How much does delivery to Jimboomba cost?

Delivery is quoted upfront based on your exact address and container size — one clear number covering container + freight, GST inclusive. Call 1300 235 972 for a delivered price today.

Can I view a container before buying?

Ask us and we'll send photos of your actual container — serial number visible — before it's delivered. Local inspection options depend on depot stock; ask when you enquire.
